OXFORD - County Council has been asked to adopt the final draft of the County and Area Municipal Growth Analysis and Land Needs Assessment.
OXFORD - Warden Marcus Ryan has reacted to the announcement that the population in Oxford County is expected to grow to 223,600 by 2061.
"What are the services that we are going to have to expand. There are kids in portables, people can't get primary health care, do we want to be growing more and have a bigger homeless population, I don't think any of us want that. How can we grow stronger here and have a real conversation with the Province of what that looks like for Oxford."
Over the next 20 years, Woodstock is expected to reach 76,100 residents, Tillsonburg will grow to 32,600, and Ingersoll's population will increase to 20,100.
While in studio this week with the Heart FM morning show, Warden Ryan recapped his recent trip to Toronto, where he attended the Rural Ontario Municipal Association and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
"I had meetings with a lot of different MPP's and Ministers, and we had some really good conversations about better rail transit for southwestern Ontario, and then we had a really good one about housing and homelessness funding. In the next few months, we will have very positive news to announce, so stay tuned."
During his interview, Warden Ryan also talked about the new green bin program and about local libraries in Oxford County.
