It is a day of victory for over 200 employees of IMT Defence in Ingersoll.
INGERSOLL - A 9-week strike is over at IMT Defence in Ingersoll.
It is being called a significant victory for over 200 employees of the United Steelworkers union on wage equality. The strike started on June 3rd, and the signing of a new four-year collective agreement, sees that come to an end. A major highlight is the elimination of a two-tier wage system, which discriminates against new hires and existing workers with limited seniority.
This new agreement establishes a six-year wage progression to cover all our members. Wage adjustments will be phased out immediately so that all members now have the opportunity to earn the maximum wage” The two-tier wage grid is something that members believed would be permanent but the Union fought back and employees are now going to be treated equally.
IMT Defence manufactures military projectile bodies and vehicle systems for defence purposes.
