Chilly Charlie did see his shadow outside South Gate Centre this morning.
(UPDATE @ 8:50 a.m.) - Chilly Charlie has predicted a longer winter for Oxford County.
Chilly Charlie did see his shadow outside South Gate Centre in Woodstock this morning, predicting six more weeks of winter.
Punxsutawney Phil also saw his shadow in Pennsylvania, but Wiarton Willie didn't see his shadow this morning, predicting an early spring!
The Groundhog Day event at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park in Nova Scotia had to be cancelled due to blowing snow and poor driving conditions. The province revealed the prognostication in an official statement that read "Shubenacadie Sam will not see a shadow, which -- according to folklore -- means an early spring."

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's favourite groundhog will emerge from his burrow today.
Chilly Charlie will make an appearance at South Gate Centre to make his annual prognostication shortly after 8:00 a.m. If he sees his shadow, we'll have another six week of winter, but if he doesn't see his shadow, we'll have an early spring.
Chilly Charlie predicted an early spring for 2025 and 2024, but he did call for an extended winter in 2023.
South Gate Centre is also hosting its Chilly Charlie Prediction Breakfast from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. today. Executive Director Chris Cunningham says they have lots of delicious items on the menu.
"We have pancakes and sausage with your choice of bacon, you got your coffee and there is always orange juice too. If you want something additional we do have fruit and some other things. For those who don't do sausage and pancakes, there are other options and we even have gluten free pancake options."
It costs $6 for adults or $3 for kids and they do have drive-thru and takeout options available for those who can't stick around.
