Three candidates have tossed their hat into the race to replace Patrick Brown as the leader of the Ontario PC Party.
OXFORD COUNTY - The race for the top spot in the Ontario PC party is really starting to heat up.
Three candidates have tossed their hat in the race, Christine Eliott, Doug Ford and Caroline Mulrooney. Oxford County MPP Ernie Hardeman doesn't expect anyone else will enter.
"Because of the short time we have in the leadership race, I would be very surprised to see another candidate step forward, they have until February 16th to declare, however I think at this point if they were interested in the job, they would have declared by now."
Hardeman announced his support for Christine Elliott yesterday.
"I'm going to be supporting Christine Elliott, she has a lot of experience, I have worked with her in the legislature and I supported her in the last leadership race, I thought she was the right person then, but the majority didn't agree, but here we are again and hopefully this time we can make it happen."
The new leader will be elected by PC party members on March 10th. Hardman says they need to get someone in place soon so they can focus on the Provincial election in June.
"Well I think it is very important that we get this done as quickly as possible, because of the approaching election."
