Rotary Youth For Change is a new program offered by Woodstock Oxford Rotary.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Oxford Rotary is ready to roll out their new program called Rotary Youth for Change.
The official launch will happen on the 28th at Oxford Gardens starting at 6:30 p.m. The evening will feature Maddi Langdon who explains how she got involved with Rotary.
"So this past summer I travelled to Arizona on a leadership volunteer trip with the WE movement and I was invited to come speak at Rotary to talk about my experiences and how I can bring some of the things I learned in Arizona to my community. Working with my mom, we were spitting ideas back and forth and we came up with a way that students and youth in Oxford County can get involved in the community."
The goal of the new rotary program is to connect local organizations with students who are looking to fulfill their mandatory volunteer hours. Langdon says they already have Facebook page.
"We came up with a Facebook group that any organization can contact and they can ask for volunteers, anyone who is part of the group can also input ideas in how they want to change our community. It's also a way for like minded youth to meet and volunteer to make a change in our community."
Langdon says they are looking for High School students to sign up to the Facebook group. It's a great place to find out where you can fill those mandatory volunteer hours that you need to graduate.
