A woman has died after her car hit a tree in Brant County today. Police say the crash happened on Highway 53 west of Middletownline Road. It happened just after 2:30 this afternoon, police say for some reason the woman's 2008 Nissan left the roadway, striking a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police will not be releasing her name until her family have been notified. Highway 53 between Middletownline Road and Lawrence Road, will be closed for several hours for investigation.
