Norwich's Eric McFarlane is one three recipients who received a scholarship through the Execulink Scholarship program, which will be put towards his post-secondary education.
WOODSTOCK - Three students have been awarded scholarships from Execulink Telecom worth $500.00 each to put towards their post-secondary education.
This year's recipients have graduated from high school and will be going to college or university in the fall. The recipients are Ruth Meyer of Waterloo, Alissa van Gaalen from Mt. Brydges and Norwich's Eric McFarlane.
President and CEO of Execulink Telecom Ian Stevens says the students achieved success in math and science, which the company was happy to recognize.
“At Execulink, we believe in the power of education and endeavour to support young, promising minds on their journeys to post-secondary learning. Math and science are the backbone of technological advancement and pave the way for innovation and creativity; we are proud to recognize three students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in mathematics and sciences as well as community involvement.”
Statistics Canada reports full-time undergraduate programs will cost students on average $6,463 per year. And with tuition costs often at the forefront of considerations when deciding on programs and institutions, students often look for financial support in the form of scholarships, bursaries, and grants.
Vice President Customer Experience at Execulink Telecom Andrea Atkinson says the scholarships should help cover some of these costs.
“We hope that the 2020 Execulink Scholarships help ease some of the concerns these students are facing when starting their first year at their chosen post-secondary institutions. Pursuing higher education is an adventure and we commend these young folks for continuing to chase their dreams.”
The Execulink Scholarship program provides three graduating high school students with one time $500 scholarships each year. Next year's applications will open next summer.
