Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman is disappointed with the budget put forth by the Liberals yesterday.
The Ontario Liberals unveiled the 2015 budget with a $131 billion dollar spending plan and a $8.5 billion dollar deficit.
Finance Minister Charles Sousa says the budget is on track to eliminate the deficit by 2017.
Local MPP Ernie Hardeman disagrees saying the budget does nothing to put the Province back in the black. He tells Heart FM he was very disappointed with the document because it does not have a clear plan to balance the books and eliminate the deficit. Hardeman says “Revenue is down and spending is up – that’s not the way to balance the budget, the government is now at the point of taking money away from health care to pay for interest on the debt.”
Some of the key items in the budget include beer to be sold in 450 supermarkets, a new 3 cents a litre beer tax starting this fall, a 10 year $160 billion dollar infrastructure push and a 60% sell off of Hydro One.
