Woodstock Police advise against going out for St. Patrick's Day, but officers would like you to arrange a safe ride home if you do decide to celebrate with friends.
WOODSTOCK - St. Paddy's Day is going to be a lot different for many this year.
While some will still celebrate with some green beer, people are being reminded to follow the Public Health guidelines set out by Southwestern Public Health. We are currently in the orange tier, which means you are only allowed 10 people indoors or 25 outside at your home. Restaurants and bars can run today with a maximum of 50 people inside.
Special Constable Shaylyn Jackson with Woodstock Police says they obviously don't recommend going out, but if you do, have a plan for a safe ride home.
"If you are planning on going out and gathering, make sure you have a safe ride home and not putting yourself in a position of getting into a car with someone who is impaired or driving impaired yourself."
Jackson says police will be on the lookout for drunk drivers today and if you suspect a person is intoxicated behind the wheel, don't hesitate to call Police.
"We will make sure that we have lot's of officers out on the road and they will be looking for impaired drivers, if anyone suspects an impaired driver, we strongly encourage them to contact police, so we can investigate that situation."
