It will be carried out in several phases over the next three years.
WOODSTOCK - A multi-year reconstruction project is starting on Oxford Road 35.
The construction project starts today and will be carried out in two parts.
They are starting at The Oxford Road 59 Bridge to Vincent Street (Vansittart Avenue and Devonshire Avenue intersection). A single lane will be open going northbound from Vincent Street to Tecumseh Street and there will be detours available for southbound traffic. Oxford County is expecting the construction to be completed by July.
Also beginning today, is a closure on Devonshire Avenue from Vansittart Avenue to Victoria Street North. It will be closed going both ways with local access only and it's expected to stay closed through to December.
The work will include a road replacement with a three lane cross section, bike lanes and sidewalks. New traffic lights and streetlights will also be installed in addition to sanitary, storm and watermain replacement and repairs.
More phases of this construction will begin each year and the final phase is expected to finish in 2028. Crews will be closing off portions of Devonshire heading to Oxford Road 4, excluding the stretch between Lansdowne Ave and Woodall Way.
