MP of Oxford County Dave MacKenzie says he has been impressed with the new interim leader for the Conservatives so far.
The MP of Oxford County is happy with the new interim leader for the Conservative Party.
Dave MacKenzie says Rona Ambrose is a real leader and has full confidence in her ability to lead the party for the next couple of years. MacKenzie says he has been impressed with Ambrose thus far.
"Right after she was elected, she went out and spoke to the press, she only knew three weeks before that there was going to be an opening and I think she did a great job handling the press, she is a bright lady, gets along well, and I think that she will be a great team leader and team builder. We have 35 brand new members so she will set the pace and the tone for the party moving forward and I'm sure when a new leader is elected she will hand over the reins to a well organized party."
Ambrose biggest competitor for the job came from Diane Finley who represents Haldimand Norfolk.
As for the next official leader of the party nobody has put their name forth yet. MacKenzie says he has heard some rumblings and has a couple of guesses as to who may be interested, but nothing concrete: "I haven't heard anything concrete from anyone, I have some guesses but it wouldn't be fair for me to name anyone because I'm only guessing and I could be dead wrong. I do know that Rona can't because she is the interim leader but beyond that I think that all avenues are open from people inside and outside the party."
