Daffodil Pin Collection Starts Strong

It has been a strong start to Daffodil Month with Canadian Cancer Society volunteers collecting $5,000 in one weekend.

The Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford is celebrating a successful start for their annual Daffodil Campaign.

Volunteers armed with pin boxes managed to collect $5,000 for cancer research just last weekend.

Manager Janis Cunningham says every donation - no matter how big or small - can make a difference.

"Even a toonie helps! That could pay for a petri dish or a test tube that might be in the project that leads to some sort of cancer breakthrough in research either in treatment or in diagnosis. We really appreciate any support that anybody can give."

Cunningham adds they are looking for more volunteers to man boxes.

"We do have a few openings left for our weekend on April the 20th to the 22nd. If anybody has couple hours to spare, we certainly could use a little bit more support there."

Those volunteers will be stationed outside of the Woodstock Zehrs or possibly another location. 

Live flowers will also be sold at Loblaws locations beginning on April 17th. The flowers and potted daffodils will be on sale until the end of the month.
