Dave Cripps has filed papers for the municipal election in Ingersoll
INGERSOLL - Another new face has been added to the municipal election ballot in Ingersoll
PlayRight Playground President Dave Cripps filed papers for a council position late Friday.
Cripps says the support received for the community playground build last month helped to solidify his desire to run for council.
"I was overwhelmed with pride in my community and I had the opportunity to meet a whole pile of like-minded people who were really in to collaboration and community engagement. I think that finalized my decision to put myself forward for council and help in taking Ingersoll to the next level."
Cripps says he loves his hometown and the dedication that comes along with a council position will be second to none.
"Community involvement over the last few years has put me out there and I hope demonstrated my ability to make things happen and find creative solutions to problems that are going on. I have a fair bit of business background around risk management and capital budget."
He says there are many issues facing the municipality over the next four years.
"Absolutely the landfill. There is a huge number of people that are working to put a stop to that and I have been supporting them. I think our budget constraints that we have perhaps been facing in the last little while are a challenge that we will face and along with that comes maintaining services and infrastructure projects."
The life-long Oxford County resident has been involved in the community for years with Scouts Canada, Relay for Life, Heart and Stroke Foundation as well as work with Easter Seals in the past.
There are now seven names on ballot for the position of town councillor.
