People are getting real world experience in the food and hospitality industries at the Moose Lodge as part of Bullwinkle's Eatery.
WOODSTOCK - The culinary program at the Moose Lodge is in full swing with 10 people already signed up.
This is all part of Bullwinkle's Eatery and people signed up in the program will eventually be cooking up lunch for those in the city looking for a warm meal. Director of Family and Community Services with the Salvation Army in Woodstock Vanessa Giuliano tells Heart FM they have already had their first class and talks about what the participants are hoping to get out of the program.
"We had some who are looking for job opportunities and are looking for that training, there were some that were looking at it from the Bullwinkle's Eatery side of it - how they can help, almost like a social enterprise, which is what were doing and they wanted to volunteer to give back to the community."
Giuliano says this is a great program for anyone who is looking to get some proper kitchen training and job experience.
It is a 10 week course and it requires you to attend two full day classes every week. If you're interested in signing up for the next course you can call Vanessa directly at 519-539-6166.
Giuliano says this program is part of a partnership with Operation Sharing and the Moose Lodge.
"Operation Sharing is the guiding light, so they are the administrators so I guess Stephen Giuliano would be the manager of Bullwinkle's Eatery. Salvation Army's portion is the training centre program, so it is a partnership with Operation Sharing. Salvation Army brings the training program and the partnership is also with the Moose Lodge who are providing the facility."
