Southwestern Public Health has put Oxford County under a cold weather alert.
OXFORD COUNTY - Southwestern Public Health has issued a Cold Weather Alert for Oxford County.
The low tonight will fall to minus 15 but feeling more like minus 23 degrees with the wind chill.
Those most vulnerable such as older adults, infants, young children, outdoor workers, those who enjoy outdoor sports, and homeless persons should take extra precautions to avoid frostbite and hypothermia
Southwestern Public Health provides a few reminders if spending time outside. Dress in warm layers, cover up all exposed skin, avoid caffeinated or alcoholic beverages as they cause your body to lose heat more rapidly, avoid strenuous exercise while out in the cold as much as possible, and prepare your home and car for winter
The alert is expected to last until tomorrow morning.
