Woodstock Police responded to two crashes over the weekend, one of which sent seven people to hospital with minor injuries.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service responded to two crashes and two impaired driving reports over the Easter long weekend.
In the area of Huron and Dundas Street, police found a driver passed out at the wheel on Good Friday. The driver was suspected to be impaired by drugs. A 32-year-old from Woodstock is now facing one count of operation while impaired.
On Monday, police discovered a vehicle in the area of Pittock Park Road between Oxford Road 17 and Upper Thames Drive. The driver was behind the wheel with a 26-ounce bottle of vodka. Once police approached the vehicle, the driver allowed the vehicle to roll away.
The 42-year-old from Woodstock was taken to hospital and is facing one count of operation while impaired.
The WPS also responded to a crash in the area of Dundas Street and Springbank Avenue involving two vehicles on Good Friday. A 75-year-old from London was charged with not turning safely, while the 76-year-old who was driving the other vehicle received minor injuries.
Late Sunday evening, a two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Mill Street and Dundas Street. A vehicle hit a nearby house as a result and seven people were taken to hospital with minor injuries. They were all in vehicles at the time of the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
