Teens enrolled in the SureStart Youth Business Challenge to sell their goods at the Ingersoll market

INGERSOLL - Oxford's business operators of tomorrow are learning the basics of launching a business in Ingersoll this week.

They're enrolled in the SureStart Youth Business Challenge camp at the Fusion Centre.

Bailey Scott is a staff member with the program.

"Each day we are going to be focusing on separate part of the business plan and doing some idea generation so we will get them prepared with their business idea and then teach them about sales and marketing and how to sell their idea. We have a number of guest speakers coming in to help with the process."

Scott says the experience culminates this weekend at the Ingersoll Kiwanis Market.

The 12 to 14 year-olds will try to sell the products they created with the help of a 20-dollar loan.

The kids get to keep whatever profit they generate beyond the loan.
