Men in Ingersoll are showing off their follicle finesse as part of a beard growing contest for Canada Day.
INGERSOLL - Things are getting hairy in Ingersoll in time for Canada's 150th birthday.
About a dozen men shaved off their beards to start anew as part of a beard growing contest at the Ingersoll Cheese and Agricultural Museum.
The guys will aim to have the Most Marvellous Moustache, Most Luxurious Beard, Most Dastardly Design, or the Longest Beard. There will also be a 'Barely There Chin Hair' award.
Curator Scott Gillies explains why the Ingersoll Museum decided to hold this contest.
"50 years ago in 1967 beard growing contests were a popular thing to celebrate the centennial of confederation. We thought it was perhaps appropriate to do it again here for the 150th anniversary."
Ingersoll also hosted a beard growing contest in 1952, when the town celebrated its 100 year anniversary.
