The Woodstock Fire Department says you should always be prepared for the worst case scenario and have a 72 hour emergency kit ready to go at all times.
WOODSTOCK - It's Emergency Preparedness Week.
Public Information Coordinator for the Woodstock Fire Department Lisa Woods says the theme this year is Be Ready for Anything.
"The number one thing we want people to think about is know the risks in your community and be prepared, make that emergency kit, make one for your car, make one for your house."
Every kit should have things like cash, batteries, blankets, canned food and other items to get you through the first 72 hours of an emergency.
"You will need your family to be prepared for the first 72 hours in an emergency. During the first 72 hours in an emergency, you may not have cell phone, you may not have access to a bank machine, you may not have access to stores until things get up and running."
