The Oxford Attack major bantam boys went 4-1 this past weekend in Ancaster and came back with a silver medal for their efforts. The Attack opened up with a 35-25 win against Cambridge on route to a perfect 3-0 in round robin play to advance to the semi-final. The boys were able to avenge a loss to Cambridge two weeks ago with their best defensive game of the year. Joshua Flanagan and Derric Pollock led the offense with 10 points each. The Attack continued its winning ways in game two with a decisive 43 -36 win over the Dundas Dynamo. Flanagan, who dominated at both ends of the court, dropped in 19 points for the winners while Ryan Lee chipped in 6. The round robin sweep was completed with a victory against the host Ancaster Magic by a score of 39 -26. Nick Keeley had his best game of the weekend led the scoring with 13 points while Ben Mott added 9. The Attack defeated the Kingsville Class in the semi-final by a score of 39-23. The Attack used a stifling defense along with a balanced attack to advance to the final. Flanagan led all scorers with 10 points, Keeley added 9, Mott with 7 and Kurtis Rooke had 5 in the win. The team ran out of momentum in the final and were handily beaten by the Mississauga Monarchs, who dominated the tournament. The game was tied through one quarter; however Mississauga pulled away late in the first half and never looked back in a 58-35 win. Rooke and Flanagan had 8 points each in the loss. The Attack player of the tournament was Joshua Vanderklooster who excelled all weekend playing a new position. Next up for the major bantam boys is a friendly tournament in Orangeville this coming weekend.
