Applications Still Being Accepted for Youth in Policing Program

The Woodstock Police are still accepting applications for the summer Youth In Policing paid position.

WOODSTOCK - Teens in Woodstock still have a couple of days to apply for the Youth In Policing paid position offered by the Woodstock Police Service. 

Special Constable Shaylyn Jackson explains some of the duties the successful applicant will do. 

"They will have plenty of opportunities to work with a variety of our departments, including our community services and mentoring youth in summer camp programs." 

The program is a partnership with the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the goal is to inspire young people to look at policing as a career choice. 

This learning opportunity for students will consist of:

- Gaining knowledge of different units within the police service,

- Acting as a mentor at children’s summer camps,

- Participating in activities that are labour intensive (e.g. paining, graffiti removal)

- Assisting with office work

- Assisting with Community Service Officers at community events

Youth at risk can be defined as young people whose background places them at risk of future offending or victimization due to environmental, social and family conditions that hinder their personal development and successful integration into the economy and society.

Time is running out to apply, however they will be accepting applications until May 24th. You can submit your application online at www.woodstockpolice.ca.
