The Children's Aid Society of Oxford County is hoping to spread some Christmas Cheer with Angel Trees across the county.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Children's Aid Society is going to be out in full force today as they kick off their Angel Tree Campaign.
Over the past 12 years the organization has assisted families in need and now they are hoping to reach out to more families then ever before. Manager for Family Violence Counselling and Community Support Programs, Giselle Lutfallah says they are hoping to reach families all over the county. "We've been able to help out almost 5 000 families within the Oxford County area who may need some assistance during Christmas time. We find the children really appreciate it. Of course it gives a chance for our parents that we are working with to alleviate some of the stress that they feel over the Christmas holidays."
Coordinator of Development for the Children's Aid Society, Ron Archer says this year is extra special: "It is the first year for the launch for all 4 trees. Children's Aid has had one since 2003. The Children's Aid is Oxford County - it is not just Children's Aid Woodstock - so we wanted to make sure all of Oxford County was part of it. Santa will be there as well with one of his elves to take pictures and to be part of it all."
Archer explains how the process will work when you see an angel on a tree. "Well you will take an angel off the tree and it will be either a boy or a girl or the age or you can pick a family. They have a list on with them with their pant size, shirt size, what kind of toy they would like, you just do what you want to do what you can do. Just have fun."
Trees will be set up at the CAS office on Peel Street in Woodstock starting at 11am, then to Giant Tiger in Woodstock for 12pm, Tremblett's Independent Grocery Store in Ingersoll at 1:30pm, then finishing off in Tillsonburg at the Sobey's at 3:30pm.
