Ward 2 residents will be able to cast their ballots at the Norwich Community Centre from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.
NORWICH - The advanced polls are about to open for the Ward 2 byelection in Norwich Township.
Legal voters living in the village of Norwich will be able to cast their ballot at the Norwich Community Centre between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday September 9th.
We have two people in the running to become the next Ward 2 Councillor; Lynne DePlancke and William Van Lagen.
DePlancke served as the Ward 2 councillor for 16 years, before she decided to run for Mayor during last year's municipal election. She placed second behind current Mayor Jim Palmer.
Van Lagen ran for the Ward 2 councillor seat last year and he placed second behind Alisha Stubbs. She resigned in late May of this year after council passed a motion to create a bylaw that would only allow for government flags to be flown on municipal property. That bylaw has since been created and passed.
The Ward 2 byelection date is scheduled for Monday September 18th.
Ward 1 Councillor John Scholten also submitted his notice of retirement during the Township Council meeting on August 8th, so another byelection will have to be held to find his replacement.
