Woodstock Police officers have laid 13 impaired charges since November 20th.
WOODSTOCK - It has been a busy few weeks for the Woodstock Police Service.
You may have spotted more RIDE programs in the Friendly City lately. Chief Nick Novacich says this is all part of the Festive RIDE campaign.
"Since we launched the program in November, we have laid 13 charges for either operation while impaired or operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 miligrams, so those numbers are concerning to us. We've had 87 for the year so far for operation while impaired or operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 miligrams.
He says Woodstock Police held a joint kick off event with the Oxford OPP on November 20th.
"We did the big launch a few weeks ago at the west end of Dundas Street with the OPP. We just want to get that message out, if you're going to parties over the holiday season, just plan ahead! That's all we're asking. We want everyone to have a happy Christmas and holiday season."
The Festive RIDE campaign will officially end on January 1st, 2026.
Nick Novacich was in studio with Woodstock Police Board Chair Ken Whiteford on Friday December 19th. They talked to Dan and Marcie about the Woodstock Wishes campaign and how they came into the roles they have. You can listen to the full interview below:
