Woodstock City Council is looking to expand McIntosh Park.
WOODSTOCK - McIntosh Park is going to get a little bigger in the near future.
The city will be purchasing a piece of land on the corner of Mill Street and Park Row, using $184,000 out of the Reserve for Capital Projects.
Mayor Trevor Birtch explains why they decided to buy it now.
"On the property right now there is a small house that's been converted over that a church was using. They have a new location so council wants to take this opportunity to purchase that property to expand the park."
Birtch says the land might not be the best spot for a home.
"It is neighbouring what was the former Mill Race as well as a closed landfill site so to see it turned into something that was residential would maybe not be desirable."
