With mild temps and rain in the forecast, City staff are clearing snow and ice to avoid flooded roads
Environment Canada have issued a Special Weather statement for all of Southern Ontario.
According to the weather agency, warm air and rain will arrive to the region Friday night, with freezing rain expected to hit Eastern Ontario early Saturday morning.
Friday morning, Oxford County could see some freezing drizzle as the temperature rises to a high of plus 2 in the afternoon. That will transition in to drizzle before rain moves into Southwestern Ontario late in the evening. They are also warning of the possibility of fog in many regions as the mercury rises through the day.
Saturday's expected high according to Environment Canada is plus 9.
As for rain totals over the next 24 hours, most areas will see anywhere from 10 to 25 millimetres of rain before ending Saturday afternoon.
The expected weekend thaw and forecasted rain has prompted the City of Woodstock to ask homeowners that they check the catchbasin in front of their home to ensure it is free of snow and ice.
Staff have been out clearing the catchbasins in the low lying areas of the city over the past few days but are asking residents to ensure theirs are cleared, especially in the flood prone areas.
