The annual performance features music and theatre students from the past and present.
WOODSTOCK - Concert for the Cure is returning to Woodstock!
The show will take over the auditorium at Woodstock Collegiate Institute (WCI) this Friday, with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The funds raised will support VON Sakura House, a 10 bed residential hospice that provides end of life care to Oxford County residents, and supports the friends and family members about to lose a loved one.
One of the organizers of the event Laurie Schultz explains how the Concert for the Cure came to be.
"One of our co-founders of the WCI Music Theatre Red Players, Amanda MacDonald, she passed away from cancer. We started doing this concert in her honour initially, and raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. In 2016 we decided that we were going to have the funds go locally."
She also gives us a sneak peak of what we can expect this Friday.
"We have current music theatre students and music students, we have some alumni from music theatre coming back, we also have some community guests, STAGES, we have Artistic Movement Dance Studio, and we've got Vocal Rhythm Oxford doing a number with us as well this year."
Donations will be accepted at the door.
Laurie Schultz stopped by the Heart FM studio with Arryson Maloney and Hannah Young on Tuesday, April 21st. You can listen to the full interview below:
