Many topics were discussed during the bi-weekly interview on the Heart FM Morning Show with Mayor Jerry Acchione.
WOODSTOCK - It was another interview with Woodstock's Mayor on the Heart FM Morning Show.
Many topics were discussed during the conversation, and one to note is the potential for new housing units in the city. The old Salvation Army property on Huron Street is where the potential units could be. Mayor Acchione says where this project sits.
"It's going to a public planning meeting. I am aware of the plans. They are putting stacked townhouses and a little apartment on that property. So, where the building is itself will be stacked homes, and across the street, a smaller apartment building."
Acchione adds that being able to develop land into more housing is always important, and it is meeting the provincial mandate. He also talked about the new provincial news of the possibility of people being able to bring their own alcohol to events.
"Do I like the idea of a BYOB? I'm not sure yet myself. There's a lot of different pieces to this that we got to figure out. The liability, what extra security would we need at events?"
Acchione mentions he worries about the potential lost revenue for non-profit organizations that run bars at events. He adds that there will be lots of discussion during their next council meeting. That next meeting will be on Thursday, starting at 1:30 p.m. You can watch the meeting live in Council Chambers, or via the City's YouTube channel.
