Freaky Friday the Musical is the next performance for the senior company of K2K Productions.
INNERKIP - Imagine walking a mile in someone else's shoes.
The senior company at K2K Productions will debut its latest production, Freaky Friday: The Musical, at Innerkip Hope Church this weekend.
Artistic Director Brian Belleth says it's the classic body swap story, centring around daughter Ellie and mother Katherine.
"Ellie is trying to participate in The Hunt, which is a city-wide scavenger hunt. Her mom says, 'no you're not going to do this' and they're like 'if you could only understand what I go through in a day!' That's of course when the swap happens."
He adds that this show is very timely as we head into the Mother's Day weekend.
"I think this is the perfect time to think about what it's like to swap bodies and what it's like for teenagers to understand what moms go through and for moms to understand what teenagers go through. I think it's fantastic timing!"
The show has a 90-minute runtime, and it will hit the stage this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There's a 7:00 p.m. performance scheduled for each of the three days, and Saturday has a 2:00 p.m. matinee scheduled as well.
Belleth says they have 23 actors involved in their senior company, and they're all in Grades 8 through 12. The actors will rotate through the main roles to make sure everyone has a chance to shine in the spotlight.
Tickets are $25 each, and you can find them online here. You can also find them at Adams Building Supply in Woodstock, The Hallmark Shoppe in Woodstock, Wild Hog in Stratford, and Corner Store Candy in Stratford.
Brian Belleth stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Friday, May 1st. You can listen to the full interview below:
