The water at Pittock Park is still showing high levels of bacteria.
WOODSTOCK - You won't be able to swim at Pittock Conservation this weekend.
Oxford County Public Health Officials issued a warning about the water at Pittock on August 13th after it tested positive for high levels of bacteria. Recent tests have found the water still has high levels of bacteria and is still not safe for swimming. Manager of Health Protection with Oxford County Public Health Peter Haywood tells Heart FM why it is unsafe to swim at Pittock right now.
"When your swimming in a lake that has high levels of bacteria the bather may experience infections such as ear nose or eye infections and if they ingest any of the contaminated water they may also experience vomiting and diarrhoea.
Haywood says they will continue to monitor the situation and will have another update next week.
"Our beach sampling happens on a weekly basis and it finishes on the labour day weekend, so we will sample Pittock Park once more and if identifies that the water results are good then we will indicate that the beach is safe to swim at."
All of the other beaches in Oxford have safe levels now so if you don want to go swimming this weekend.
