OPP are reminding pedestrian's to put their phones away when crossing the street
OXFORD COUNTY - Your text can wait is the message the OPP are urging the public to follow.
Many instances of pedestrian's striking out into traffic with their head down in their phone has troubled police recently. Canada sees over 10 million texts sent an hour with over 225 million texts sent every day, and by keeping your head up while walking it could ultimately save your life.
The OPP added this issue puts everyone's safety at risk and are also hoping to see people put their phones in their pocket when walking to avoid injury by walking into something or someone else. As officers continue to target distracted drivers they are prepared to keep tabs on distracted pedestrians to combat a growing problem.
