While Oxford County students will still be his top priority, Bill McKinnon has new responsibilities.
LONDON - Bill McKinnon has been named Vice Chair of the Thames Valley District School Board.
The Oxford County trustee received the recognition Monday.
"I must say I'm very happy to have my peers recognize the work that I've done in the last four years to elect me to that position and hopefully I can fulfill Graham Hart's shoes and do as good a job as he did last year." Graham Hart is Oxford County's other TVDSB trustee. "Every year we change committees that we work on and also the Chair can change or the Vice Chair. I was nominated by one of my peers -- I do not know which one nominated me -- and I stood for elections and nobody ran against me."
McKinnon says while he has some extra responsibilities, the needs of Oxford County students will still be his first priority.
"I handle the In Camera portion of our Board meeting. Of course I have to fill in for the Chair when Chair Tisdale needs me and requires me to do work for her. I sit on a different board called the Chair's Board and that sets the agenda for our meetings and how we are going to do things at the Board of Education."
