Several local municipalities have decided to fly their flags at half mast in response to the tragedy.
OXFORD - The flags are flying at half mast in several Oxford County municipalities to honour those affected by the deadly fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta.
Strong winds spread a grass fire into a nearby training area on Saturday, killing four people and sending 39 to hospital. Defence Minister David McGuinty provided an update yesterday, saying 33 of the injured remained in hospital. Nineteen of them are in critical condition.
The Oxford municipalities with their flags lowered include Oxford County, the City of Woodstock, the Town of Tillsonburg, the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock, Zorra Township, South-West Oxford Township, and Blandford-Blenheim Township.
