The opioid crisis continues to hit close to home as two men were saved by Nalaxone at the same home in Tillsonburg on Sunday.
OXFORD COUNTY - First Responders from Oxford County managed to save two lives in a matter of minutes at the same home in Tillsonburg.
Police were called to the home on Sunday afternoon about a 21 year old man in medical distress. When Police arrived at the scene, paramedics were already treating the man for an opioid overdose. A man inside the apartment had already provided two doses of naloxone which likely saved the man's life.
About 5 minutes after police and EMS left the apartment, another 9-1-1 call from the same house as another man inside the apartment had overdosed on opioids. This time Oxford OPP officers applied the naloxone and started CPR. The man was taken to the hospital in ambulance and is starting his recovery.
Detachment Commander for the Oxford OPP Tony Hymers says the two men inside that apartment are lucky to be alive today.
"Not only were officers and paramedics attending this address able to quickly identify an opioid overdose, a resident also observed the signs and immediately administered naloxone prior to emergency services arriving. When someone is overdosing, minutes can make the difference between life and death."
