One Hundred Trucks of Toronto's garbage a day could be landing in our own backyard in the not-too-distant future. Walker Environmental Group is making the proposal to Beachville and Centreville residents today. They want to transport as much as 850,000 tonnes of garbage per year to the Carmeuse Lime Quarry in Beachville. The site also borders on the Ingersoll town line. Hans Uyl lives directly across from the proposed dump and says he's very concerned about 2 main issues should the company get the go ahead "there is a lot of red flags. First of all the environmental issues - the water issues, because all that water from there runs from the southwest, so that runs towards right into Ingersoll water as well as my own and as well as property values. Who wants to live across from a dump?" General Manager of Strategic Growth Joe Lyng says the planning is in the very early stages of development "we expect the process to take anywhere between 3 and 5 years, so it's not something that's going to be decided quickly. We will take the time that we need to work with the community and develop the project". A pubic open house on the proposal will be held on Wednesday April 4th between 2 & 8pm at the Elmhurst Inn in Ingersoll.
