The Woodstock Police want people to enjoy their evening celebrations but want to remind you that the noise-by-law will be in effect and there will be R.I.D.E programs.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police are providing a few tips ahead of New Year's Eve tomorrow.
They ask that if you are drinking, to do so responsibly and plan ahead if you are staying the night at someone's house.
Inspector Marci Shelton says if you're walking home, be sure that you're safe.
"Wear bright clothing and use the sidewalks when they are available. Walking opposite to traffic so cars can see you, is a safe method whenever possible."
She adds their officers will be on patrol tomorrow night and drinking and driving will be enforced.
They say they want people to enjoy their evening celebrating but want to remind you that the noise-by-law will be in effect.
The noise by-law is covered under the Woodstock municipal code for the city. She adds they want to make sure people are reminded of that by-law as they do attend a lot of house parties.
Shelton says if you're hosting a party, be careful of who you're letting into your home.
"Make sure it's somebody that you know. A lot of times in the city we find people are just showing up wherever there's a party, they hear the music going on. Just be mindful of that. These people are coming into your home so you do have to be careful at all times."
Shelton adds noise complaints are often common as there are a lot of house parties going on in the city.
