The 5th annual Time to Change Minds walk-a-thon is moving indoors because of rain in the forecast on Sunday.
WOODSTOCK - The 5th annual Time to Change Minds will be happening on Sunday rain or shine.
The walk-a-thon is held in memory of 19 year old Tyler Maskell who took his own life in 2013 after being diagnosed with schizophrenia two years prior. It's happening on Sunday at College Ave Secondary School from noon to 4 pm and they are moving the event indoors because of rain in the forecast. Leanne Maskell tells Heart FM they have a lot of fun events planned for Sunday.
"We are going to have a BBQ, some community challenge games, which are just hilarious rally games, we are going to have a game of bubble soccer, we usually leave the bubble soccers out, so if people want to try it they can. We are going to have a silent auction, we will also have booths of different services that the community has regarding mental health."
Proceeds raised at Time to Change Minds have gone to CMHA Oxford, Oxford Elgin Child and Youth Centre, Woodstock Hospital and the ACT program at St Joseph's Hospital in London.
The event has raised about $20,000 for the cause in previous years, so organizers are hoping to raise a similar amount this year. You can find more information about the event online here.
