After Tillsonburg closed their event centre in 2012, a survey is asking if a new events centre is needed.
TILLSONBURG - A new online survey is asking residents if there is a need for a new events centre in Tillsonburg.
The creator of the survey, Suzanne Fleet wonders if organizations felt a void once the Town closed their event centre back in 2012.
"It caused some concern for some of the different service groups here in town and nonprofit groups who used it to hold their annual fundraisers. Myself being one, I do coordinate the Down Home Country Christmas Craft Show and I was lucky enough to find an alternative building but not everyone was. It has just been sitting at the back of my mind."
"I've created and I do have a list of different activities that could be held in a new events centre and I've also asked people for their input if they can think of something that isn't on the list that they would like to see in a new event/activity centre."
"Once we finish the survey we will then, you know, go and decide how we are going to approach it and of course get quotes and that sort of thing for new buildings. There's not a lot of existing buildings in the Town of Tillsonburg that would house you know, the bigger events."
Fleet says so far 94 percent of the 120 responses she has gotten were in favour of a new event centre.
