Thamesford Is Going to the Dogs This Fall

An off leash dog park should be up and running in Thamesford before the beginning of fall. The need for the park was brought up by community members who were committed to putting in their own time and effort to raise funds and see the project become a reality. Councillor Marie Keasey says they have raised the 20 thousand dollars they needed for the park. "We're now in the process of selecting a contractor to install the posts and then volunteers will be gathering to erect the fence itself and then we'll get the signage in and some benches and it will be good to go." Keasey says there will be very little maintenance. "We are using wood chips and gravel for the inside part and it will be self policing with respect to people picking up after their pet." She says she's very proud of the work that's been completed by the community. "It has been less than two years and we're at this point where it's coming to fruition and for a community led project I think that's really commendable and shows that there is a strong support within the community." The park will be located at Grace Patterson Park.
