You can use the Respiratory Virus Activity Dashboard to help track the spread of COVID-19, influenza and RSV in the Southwestern Public Health region.
SWPH - With the colder weather upon us and the kids back in school, respiratory virus season will be here before we know it.
With that being said, Southwestern Public Health has decided to reintroduce its Respiratory Virus Activity Dashboard.
Manager of Infectious Diseases says members of the public will be able to track the spread of COVID-19, influenza and RSV in Oxford, Elgin and St. Thomas.
"We recognize that respiratory viruses can have significant impacts on our community, especially for older adults, young children, and individuals with chronic health conditions. This dashboard gives the public easy access to timely data, helping them make informed decisions about their health and well-being."
The dashboard is visited more than 190,000 times annually and it breaks down the rates of respiratory illness in the region, along with the risks and the number of outbreaks.
As of this morning, the dashboard said the overall risk for influenza was low but the overall risk for COVID-19 was very high. It also reported four active outbreaks in the region.
