Briefs include South-West Oxford seeing the benefits of the FIT program; Council has also sent a letter to the Province, commending them on their COVID-19 response.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - An investment made 7 years ago continues to pay off for the Township of Southwest Oxford in more ways than one.
Back in 2013, Council decided to participate in the FIT program in the province which provided money to build alternate forms of energy and sell any power to the grid. The decision was made to put solar panels on the roof of the Salford Community Centre. The Centre’s Board put up 25% of the initial costs.
2019 saw Township revenues from the project total almost $55 hundred.

Mayor David Mayberry and South-West Oxford Council think the province has done a good job and wants them to know it.
With some minor edits, Council approved a letter penned by Mayor David Mayberry. The letter notes that some of the measures implemented may not have been perfect, they have been fair and effective.
Council is urging the Premier, when the province reopens to do it gradually and allow people to connect as communities. They also call on the province to consider funding municipal capital projects because it gets people back to work and are of long term benefit to the township.
