A 22-year-old was killed during an arrest in Turkey Point on August 12th, 2025.
TURKEY POINT - The Special Investigations Unit has charged a Norfolk OPP constable with manslaughter after an incident in Turkey Point.
Investigators say the OPP tried to pull over a personal watercraft on Lake Erie on August 12th, 2025. The operator didn't stop and instead decided to park at the MacDonald Turkey Point Marina and head into a wooded area on foot.
Officials say the constable discharged their firearm during the arrest and the 22-year-old man died at the scene. The SIU was notified because it investigates incidents with police that result in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or discharge of a firearm.
A statement released yesterday says SIU Director Joseph Martino has reasonable grounds the charge the officer in this case. Constable Quade Odrowski was arrested at the SIU headquarters yesterday, but was released on undertaking and will appear in a Simcoe courtroom next month.
