A London man is going to have to take the bus or ride his bike for the next week.
TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH - A 47 year old man from London will be walking for a bit after getting hit with a stunt driving charge near St. Marys.
Perth OPP say they clocked the man going 145 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone on Perth Road 139 South of Line 4 on Thursday afternoon. The man had his drivers licence suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene.
The Ministry of Transportation Ontario Driver’s Handbook states:
"The risk of a fatality or serious injury is almost five times greater for vehicles crashing at 50 km/h or more above the posted limit on a highway with a posted limit of 100 km/h. The increase in risk is even greater on roads with lower posted limits. For example, on roads with a posted limit of 60 km/h or less, the risk of a fatality or serious injury is almost eight times greater for vehicles colliding at 50 km/h or more above the posted limit."
