Alisha Stubbs is looking to become the next Ward 2 Councillor for Norwich Township.
NORWICH - A social worker in Norwich Township has launched a campaign to become the next Ward 2 Councillor.
Alisha Stubbs has lived in Norwich her entire life and she wants to make a difference in her community.
"My main reason for running for council is to be able to represent Norwich in a way that's considerate of the wellbeing and interests of everybody in Ward 2. I have the mental preparation that's required to make decisions about long-term community sustainability."
If she's elected this fall, Stubbs would like to determine what it truly means to be a community representative by taking a look at Oxford County's community safety and wellbeing policy.
"There is a number of pieces within that policy that I really want to start to look at in terms of how we are representative of everyone in our community and what a safe community truly looks like."
Stubbs says she is has done her homework and she's always engaged in ongoing training and improving her skills.
She has served on the Oxford County Critical Incident Team and she helped bring a community garden to Norwich a few years ago. She also helps her kids host a lemonade stands every year to raise money for Autism Ontario.
The municipal election will take place on October 24th.
