Come out to the fifth annual Sweat For Strong Kids event at the YMCA.
WOODSTOCK - Raise funds and your heart rate at the 5th annual Sweat for Strong Kids event at the YMCA. Sweat For Strong Kids is an event in support of the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.
YMCA Strong Kids is a campaign that raises money for families who may need financial support to access the YMCA. The event will be on Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
Development Officer, Amanda Sutherland talks about what activities you can participate in at the event.
"We are celebrating this year with a Zumbathon. We also have our traditional cycling classes's."
Sutherland adds everyone is welcome.
"Our motto at the YMCA that we're open to anyone at any level. The Zumbathon goes on for 3 hours. But if you are able to come even for 20 minutes, we are more than happy to have you. And the same with the cycling you can set different levels and that kind of thing. We're open to all."
This year the Woodstock YMCA is aiming for a goal of $23,000 between sponsorship and pledges.
Sutherland explains why the Strong Kids Program is so important.
"It works out to be about 1/3 kids in our swimming lessons or our day camps are there because of the YMCA Strong Kids Program."
