It's the first day of spring, but Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says we could see a mix of showers and flurries for the last few days of March.
OXFORD COUNTY - Spring has officially arrived in Oxford County!
Looking at today's forecast, Environment Canada is predicting lots of sunshine with a high of plus 5 along with an overnight low plus 1. The average high for late-March is about 6 degrees, while the overnight low is about minus 3.
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says we're not done with the snow yet.
"With our temperatures dipping a little bit below the freezing mark for overnight lows for the next week to 10 days, there is still the possibility of at least mixed precipitation, rain and flurries combined, for the area and we can't rule out another general snowfall. But as we get into the first part of April, it looks like mostly what we will be dealing with will be showers by that point."
Coulson says we're in for a little bit of everything over the month or so.
"To finish off the month of March, it looks like temperatures should be generally around the long-term averages and seasonal values. The first half of April at this point looks to be a little bit cooler than normal, but then we bounce back with the second half of April being a bit warmer than normal. At this point, there is still a lot of variability for May's forecast, but generally the forecast model is indicating temperatures around the seasonal average for May."
To put it in perspective, Coulson says the average daytime high for mid-April is about 11 or 12, while the overnight low is about plus 1 or plus 2. The average for late-April is a high of 15 and a low of plus 4 or plus 5.
