Southwestern Public Health uses its own booking system for COVID-19 vaccination appointments and it's hoping to finalize a process for rescheduling second dose appointments by June 7th or earlier.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Local seniors will have to wait a little longer before they can re-book their appointment to receive their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Those over the age of 80 can already re-book their appointment to get their shot earlier using the provincial booking system.
But Southwestern Public Health uses it's own booking system and it still needs to finalize it's process for rescheduling appointments. It's hoping to have everything ready to go by June 7th or earlier.
Jaime Fletcher, the Program Coordinator for Southwestern Public Health's COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force, says they're also looking into other ways those who are eligible can reschedule their second dose.
“We are committed to delivering customer-focused solutions to make booking a vaccine appointment as easy as possible. Making changes to our existing system requires significant changes to scheduling processes already in-place, so we want to make sure we get it right.”
Fletcher is asking people not to attempt to reschedule their appointment online or over the phone at this time.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit uses the same booking system as Southwestern Public Health.
