Even if you cannot physically take part in the ride on June 26th, there is still an opportunity for you to take part as a virtual rider.
Oxford County- The Canadian Mental Health Association is gearing up for the second annual Ride Don't Hide.
Community Engagement Coordinator Kathleen Campbell-Conlon says they are hoping to surpass the success of last year.
"Last year was our first year. It was something that we hadn't done before in the community. We were really overwhelmed with the support that we got. We had nearly 120 riders and raised a lot of funds that went toward our walk in counselling."
Campbell-Conlon says its about more than just the funds - it's about showing a united front in ending the stigma.
"We're going to have shirts again this year for riders because it really helps to bring awareness of mental illness and to stop stigma when you see a group of people riding together that are saying 'I'm standing up, I'm riding for mental health awareness, I'm doing my best to stop stigma.'"
Even if you cannot physically take part in the ride on June 26th, Campbell-Conlon there is still an opportunity for you to take part as a virtual rider.
"You can register, you're still part of the movement but maybe you don't have a bike, or maybe you're busy that day, or maybe your mobility is restricted and you're not able to ride a bike with us. So this way you can still raise funds which go right back into our community, and you're able to do that without actually having to ride that day."
There are four different course you can take part in: a 100k, 50k, 13k, and 8k.
