Four people had to go to the hospital after an 8 vehicle pile up on the 401 Westbound yesterday.
THAMES CENTRE - Highway 401 Westbound was shut down for several hours after an 8 vehicle dust up near the Dorchester Road off ramp.
Traffic was backed up for two hours after the crash happened yesterday afternoon just after 5:00 pm during rush hour. Eight vehicles were involved in the collision and several people were injured. Debris and damaged vehicles blocked all three lanes of traffic causing the massive delay.
Police say the crash was caused by a 21 year old driver from London who hit a silver Honda car in the fast lane, causing a chain reaction involving six additional vehicles. He was charged with careless driving.
The driver of the Honda, had to be extradited from his vehicle. At least four people had to go to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
