RIDE Season Starts Today

Oxford OPP will be looking for high and drunk drivers during the Festive R.I.D.E Campaign.

The Festive R.I.D.E campaign from the OPP starts today. 

Oxford OPP will be out in full force this holiday season to ensure everyone stays safe this holiday season. They will be trying to prevent everyone from drinking and driving. 

Already in 2016 we have had 59 fatalities on OPP patrolled roads and 35 of those deaths were drug or alcohol related. This year the force will also put an extra emphasis on drivers who are high. OPP Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair says the OPP hopes to conduct a successful campaign in which every single driver they pull over in a Festive R.I.D.E. Stop is a sober, drug-free driver.  

"The solution to ending impaired-related road deaths is a simple one. Never drive if you are impaired by alcohol or drugs and know that you are doing the right thing by calling 9-1-1 to report an impaired driver. By working together, we can positively influence driver behaviour in an effort to make sober, drug-free driving a social norm during the holidays and throughout the year."
